Great stuff here ! I love Crimson Tide and Hans Zimmer's music for that movie, and your tribute is just spot on. The instrumentation and the overall tone are a great reflection of what I loved about Zimmer's music. This is a great tribute. Good work !

Great

I like it, it gives out a great vibe. The beat is cool and the overlapping synths flow smoothly through the track. However, it does sound kind of harsh. I think there's something off with the sound quality, like the recording quality or maybe the mixing. The high pitched sounds seem too sharp as opposed to how muffled the rest sounds. And I think I can hear some clipping too. But overall, the song is great. Everything is in the right place, minus the mixing. Keep up the great work !

thanks for the review popraz!!!! you da man

Epic

I love how you obtain the epic effect without overdoing it. Reminds me a bit of the Syberia games. It's hauntingly beautiful. I can't think of much else to say. All I can do is close my eyes and let the music paint the picture. It also sounds great, mixing is handled well, just a little clipping I noticed in one part, but in my opinion it's not enough to affect the rest of the song. Excellent work, and good luck at the contest !

PenguinSam responds:

Thank you!

And I think I just have to agree with the clipping. That was the loudest spot of the entire piece, so the clipping was inevitable.

I am very glad that you enjoyed this piece!

Awe inspiring !

Very cinematic indeed. It has hints of mystery and tragedy, darkness and light, a very nice mix of sounds escalating and falling, like a tragic rollercoaster of emotions. The sound mixing is great, and I love how realistic the synths sound (wish I could make my synths sound so good), though I think the volume went unexpectedly high at times for some of the instruments, like the solo cello around 2:04 or the full string blast at 2:16. But these are minor complaints. It's an awesome orchestral track. Keep up the great work !

Cool !

Can't imagine why you're being 0-bombed, this isn't a bad song at all. The brooding synth strings melody and metal sound do well to create a hardcore, yet emotional song. It definetly works as an end credits theme, and loops pretty well too. The sound quality is crisp. I think the lack of some deeper, more noticeable kick drums to go with the snares kind of diminishes the impact of the song, though I can't be sure what was requested of you for the end credits sequence, or if my speakers miss out on the way you mixed the drums. Anyway, it's still a good song, so there's no justification for the ultra-low score, I mean I've seen better scores on worst songs. Probably some YuGiOh haters. Keep up the great work !

Pure-Metal-UTA responds:

I'll take another listen and see if the kick isn't as high as I thought it was. My headphones seem to be starting to die out and it's my only reliable source to tell me. I saw a thread that has some programs that let you literally see if there's anything wrong with the EQing, so I'll probably download one of those programs.
As I said, I'm not a fan of YuGiOh, so the haters giving low scores are probably dipshits lol.
Thanks for the review, it's much appreciated!

Hardcore

I like it. It's angry, dark and definetly metal (doesn't have to be fast, like the previous reviewer said). I like how it sounds, and the mixing is really good. I couldn't spot anything off about the levels. It's neither too soft, nor too loud. The sound is clear and the instruments are well individualized in the mix. I'm not sure if I should complain about the vocals, it's just that I couldn't understand a single word (except the DIEEEE at the end, which is pretty distinct). If it's a creative decision to up the sinister factor, it's OK I guess. All I can say is that overall, the vocals are well mixed into the track but the synths/effects applied to the voice may be a problem. Love the lyrics by the way. I really like the track. Professional metal all the way ! Keep it up !

Pure-Metal-UTA responds:

Onizero also mentioned something with the vocal effects (at least that's what I got out of it) So what I could do it adjust the reverb and delay to make it sound much better, and I should probably rerecord them too so that they sound more distinguishable
My band's rythm guitarist wrote the lyrics, and I also feel that they're kickass lyrics.
Thanks for the review, it's really appreciated!

Excellent

Very impressive and emotional. I love the whole mood of the song and how the deep strings help build the heartbreaking soundscape. Kind of reminds me of the songs I used to love writing some time ago. I nagged about life too, and I guess I still do, but time changes a lot of things, you know, and the music you write changes too. Loved the instrumentation and the overall music writing is top notch. Here and there it reminded me of "Neverending Story", with the synth orchestra and dreamy soundscape. Excellent work !

Lublub194 responds:

There's been a ton to nag about recently. Haha. This is just one specific one.

I'm glad you liked it. A lot of emotion was poured out here, and the one it goes to? 99% likely they won't see it. Heck, I doubt they'll speak to me. (More nagging. Yay!)

Anyways, yeah yeah, I'm actually really happy when someone likes my work. So thanks!

Awesome !

Always a big fan of classical and modern instrumentation fusions. And I have to say this is one of the better examples of that fusion. It's fast, jumpy and stylish. The violins and the beat mix in so beautifully, especially in the final statements of the song that I wished it was longer. Snare drums are well handled in the beginning, and maybe they should have carried along through the beat , but it's just fine the way it is. Melodies are also very noticeable which is something that usually gets lost in songs like these. All in all, this goes straight to my favourites. Congratulations on you excellent work !

masterhappyboy responds:

Dear popraz,

Thanks for noticing the instruments I've used on the song.
Finally, someone nailed it! I think this is just a classical with a fusion of modern instruments.

You're a genius sir.

Thanks for your time!

Very nice

Tehnically there's nothing wrong, everything flows smoothly, the sound quality is crisp, the beat is ultra cool and the synth effects and the voice samples fit in nicely. Not exactly my genre speciality, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy groovy beats and synths. I certanily can't find anything wrong with the song. Somehow I don't feel this is exactly house, maybe more like techno or something, but, again, I have no expertise in this area of the genre spectrum. Truly awesome, great work !

Cool

Very cool ambient DnB, the beat and bass synths are excellent and they are probably the highlight of this track. It has a cool vibe that runs smoothly throughout the entire song, never breaking immersion, and the flute effect in the intro is a nice touch. The strings at 1:23 are a bit distracting because the quality of the synth is in dissonance with how good the rest of the synths sound. Otherwise this is a great track. Good luck at the contest !

pichuscute0 responds:

I thought it felt a little empty without them. But dunno. They don't fit amazingly. Anyway, thanks for the review. Glad you liked the song.

Amateur composer and film-buff. That about sums it up.
